SAP BASIS Admin: Required Basic Qualifications:

4-5 years experience as SAP Basis Administrator in a medium- or large-sized environment with emphasis on Performance Tuning and Analysis.

BASIS skills including SAP system installation and upgrade skills, strong networking skills, hardware and software performance management knowledge.

Knowledge of Windows OS and UNIX OS and the ability to interoperate between these two operation system environments.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Oracle and TI Mainframe experience helpful

SAP Oracle 9/10 and Solaris/Linux experience preferred

Knowledge of SAP R3 4.7 a plus

Primary and Secondary Responsibilities:

Manage the installation, monitoring, and fine-tuning of SAP Enterprise wide software ensuring the efficient and secure operation of the SAP systems, which include R3 4.7, XI - Exchange, CHM - Channel Management, GTS - Global Trade System, EBP - Enterprise Buyer Professional, Solution Manager and other SAP applications in a development and production landscape.

Manages the installation of new SAP systems and instances.

On-call rotation to cover 24X7 production support.

Oversees the daily monitoring of all the SAP systems, and assists in development of procedures and policy for the efficient operations of the SAP systems. Implements and maintains company policies and procedures for all BASIS related configuration standards and system resources.

Manages and provides guidance and subject matter expertise regarding fine tuning and in resolving problems in the SAP environment.

Works closely with other SAP basis and performance team members to optimize performance and troubleshoot problems.

Analyzes performance data for SAP central instance and application servers, and develops trend analyses and project capacity requirements in terms of processing, memory and storage.

Manage & troubleshoot interfaces and their communication.

Provides technical and analytical guidance to department staff members and recommends and/or takes action to direct the analysis and solutions to problems.

Manages and schedules SAP basis activities for weekdays and week-end coverage of SAP Production systems to support the end users who utilize the systems 24 X 7.

Ensures the appropriate configuration and resolution of problems with the operation of the SAP spool and background job systems.

Manages the daily check of all the Production SAP systems and ensures corrective measures are implemented as needed.

Communicates with SAP Developers and Help Desk Support personnel to resolve system issues.

Plans and manages the upgrades and maintenance to the SAP systems and its environment, so that the SAP systems are near current maintenance level.

Maintains and updates policies and procedures for the operation of the SAP systems including backup and recovery of the SAP to be in compliance with SOX.

Provides assistance in developing and implementing proper security measures.

Configures and maintains SAP communication interfaces for faxing, e-mail, document management, EDI /XML interfaces, file upload/down load functions, and web interfaces.

Develops, maintains, and documents SAP operating procedures including backup and recovery of the SAP system, error detection procedures, database reorganization, and SAP background job scheduling.

Supports the installation and maintenance of new SAP front-end installations (SAPGUI).

Support of SAP printing on a Windows server spool environment.

Maintains current knowledge of new technologies and to review, recommend, and implement their use upon receiving approval from senior IT management.
