Certification Required : Redhat Certified is a plus.
Job description :
The Sr. Systems Engineer works as part of a team responsible for the design of the
system architecture, server infrastructure management and advanced technical support.
He also provides technical leadership required to effectively deliver high-quality,
timely IT solutions and services that meet EA's business needs.The Sr. System Engineer's
primary focus is to research, evaluate, plan, design, allocate,implement, deploy,
support and optimize all aspects of EA's Online Game System infrastructure while providing
superior solutions for the Business IT.
Skills Required:
• 12+ years Systems Engineer experience with `mission critical systems in a medium to large enterprise environment.
• Experience working with internal and external organizations solving complex problems
and handling large scale projects.
• At least 4 to 5 years Unix Systems Administration experience(preferably in Redhat)
• Enterprise class hardware, servers, storage & networking.
• Familiarity with Tier 1 vendor technologies (HP, Dell, Cisco).
• Expert level knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux
• Redhat Certified is a plus.
• Excellent TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and networking knowledge and experience.
• Excellent Mail, FTP, LDAP, NIS and Automount experience
• Experience in Apache, Tomcat, Jboss, Jforum and Java environment.
• Server virtualization infrastructure.(Redhat Xen and VMware)
• Working knowledge of Database Administration(Oracle and Mysql)
• Working knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (SAN,NFS,ICSI,RAID).
• Proven ability to drive systems optimizations on large scale infrastructure.
• Expert understanding of technology systems and infrastructure
• Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in highly complex systems and
drive performance optimizations.
• Solid Shell scripting.
• Perl experience a plus
Additional Skills:
• Perforce administration experience a plus.
• Stays current with the latest server infrastructure and storage technologies
• Ability to analyze, propose, and implement workflow and process improvements.
• Prior experience with working in the Online games environment is a plus Performance Competencies (Non Technical Skills)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
• Excellent decision making capabilities.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions.

Key responsibilities :
- Create and implement consolidated, multi-year Infrastructure plans
- Provides L3 (advanced) troubleshooting support with accountability for resolution of
outages, service level issues, and user support needs requiring collaboration.
- Excellent capabilities around capacity planning and analysis
- Monitor and analyze metrics in order to implement optimization strategies
- Ability to articulate end-to-end technical requirements across delivery functions
- Expert knowledge of technology and software design and deployment principles
- Defines best practices and technology roadmaps
- Evaluate new technology and techniques in order to improve systems infrastructure
- Drives and leads technical design services, requirements analysis, functional/ technical
design leadership, and documentation/review with the business & IT.
- Drives continuous improvement - design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes
and methodologies
- Must be able to conduct system analysis and translate user requirement into business solutions.
- Rotational Weekend 24 hours on call support
