This role is meant to solve two problems: 1) Minimizing the turn-around time when an issue is referred from the Customer Support group to the Product Development group, 2) Enabling sales account reps to spend the majority of their time selling rather than managing post sales issues.
Across the complete CMA line of products, the analysts will research and deduce the root cause of issues if possible, identify problem trends, perform their own tests, and ultimately provide valuable up-front information about the issue(s) to developers so that the developers can maximize their time on resolutions. The analyst will also ensure that there is no lack of information or communication about the state of resolution and details pertaining to the type of problem and areas of code that are affected.
The person must be an excellent communicator and an even temperament with a strong technical understanding of enterprise software, able to manage projects towards completion, and mitigate risks while at the same time providing strong leadership. This position requires someone who has experience as a software developer.
Candidates should be highly self motivated; have a very strong educational background in computer science; and have a proven record of successful product design and development. The ideal candidate will have a very strong background in object-oriented software engineering, including experience with C++, COM, DCOM, STL, Windows Multithreading, database, and web based application development.
Job Responsibilities
- Deduce as best as possible the root cause of issues referred to the Engineering group - Analyze the problem and identify the failing component.
- Deliver relevant analysis info to engineering team(s) that will assist/reduce time in resolving the problem.
- Provide daily written and verbal communication with detailed information as to the type, state, and next steps of the resolution process.
- Represent the engineering group on phone conferences to discuss open issues as necessary.
- Engage with Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support teams to provide requirements that will improve the quality of CMA products.
- Specialize in solving functional and architectural issues within the CMA.
- Debug and provide root cause analysis of product defects in releases of CMA Application. Develop theories around cause, minimize reproduction into scenario. Provide feedback to Engineering and Tech Support group.
- Work with other groups in Engineering, Technical Services, and Product Marketing to ensure that overall product reliability issues and functional defects are addressed quickly in the required timeframe.
- 4-8 years experience as a software engineer or consultant
- Experience in troubleshooting enterprise software products involving C++, WIN32 API, COM, DCOM, ATL, STL, Windows Multithreading,.
- Experience on MAPI would be a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting & debugging skills Strong diagnostic skills with experience on a stack of enterprise software products
- Proficiency in understanding and troubleshooting issues.
- Ability for self directed work
- Ability to work simultaneously on multiple issues.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, stays cool under pressure.
- Understanding of the architecture and implementation of the products in the Content Management & Archiving software group of EMC is a definite plus.
